High-Protein Chocolate Ninja Creami Recipe

🍫 High-Protein Chocolate Ninja Creami

Makes: 1 pint
Protein: roughly 35–45 g, depending on your protein powder and milk
Prep: 5 minutes + freezing
Freeze: at least 24 hours

Ingredients

  • 1 cup (240 ml) high-protein milk or skim/low-fat milk
  • 1 scoop (25–30 g) chocolate protein powder
  • 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2–3 tbsp Greek yogurt β€” preferably 0% or 2%
  • 1–2 tbsp sweetener of your choice, to taste
  • Β½ tsp vanilla extract
  • β…› tsp salt
  • Β½ tsp xanthan gum β€” optional, but helps make it extra creamy
  • 1–2 tbsp chocolate chips or chopped dark chocolate β€” optional

Step-by-step

1. Mix the ingredients

Add the milk, chocolate protein powder, cocoa powder, Greek yogurt, sweetener, vanilla, salt, and xanthan gum to a blender.

Blend for about 20–30 seconds, until completely smooth.

If you don’t have a blender, whisk everything very thoroughly. Make sure there are no protein-powder or cocoa lumps.

2. Taste the mixture

Before freezing, taste it.

  • Want it sweeter? Add a little more sweetener.
  • Want stronger chocolate flavor? Add another teaspoon of cocoa powder.
  • Too thick? Add a splash of milk.
  • Too bitter? Add a little more sweetener or vanilla.

Remember that the frozen mixture will taste less sweet than the liquid mixture.

3. Pour into the Ninja Creami pint

Pour the mixture into your Ninja Creami container.

Don’t fill above the MAX FILL line.

Put the lid on securely.

4. Freeze

Place the container upright and level in your freezer.

Freeze for at least 24 hours.

This is important because the Creami works best when the mixture is completely frozen.

5. Spin it

Remove the pint from the freezer and take off the lid.

Place it into the Ninja Creami outer bowl according to your machine’s instructions.

For a protein-heavy, low-fat mixture, start with the Lite Ice Cream setting if your model has it.

6. Check the texture

After the first spin, the mixture may look crumbly or powdery. That’s normal, especially with high-protein recipes.

Don’t worry β€” you’re not finished yet.

7. Add a splash of milk

If it looks dry, make a small hole in the center and add about 1–2 tablespoons of milk.

Use the RE-SPIN function.

Usually, one re-spin is enough to turn it into a smooth, creamy texture.

8. Add chocolate pieces

For chocolate chunks or chips, make a small hole in the center of the ice cream.

Add your chocolate pieces and use the MIX-IN function.

Avoid adding large, very hard pieces that could damage the machine.

🍫 Extra-Chocolate Version

For an even richer chocolate flavor, use:

  • 1 cup chocolate protein milk
  • 1 scoop chocolate protein powder
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 2 tbsp Greek yogurt
  • 1 tbsp powdered sweetener
  • Β½ tsp vanilla
  • β…› tsp salt
  • Β½ tsp xanthan gum
  • 1 tbsp mini chocolate chips

This gives you a thick, fudgy chocolate ice cream while keeping the protein high.

πŸ’ͺ Tips for the best Creami texture

Don’t skip the re-spin. Protein ice cream often needs one because it contains less fat and sugar than traditional ice cream.

Use Greek yogurt. It adds protein and helps make the texture richer.

Don’t use too much xanthan gum. A little goes a long way. Too much can make the Creami overly gummy.

For a softer result: after spinning, let the pint sit for 2–5 minutes before eating.

For more protein: replace regular milk with a high-protein milk and choose a protein powder with around 20–25 g protein per scoop.

For a brownie-style version: add 1 tbsp powdered peanut butter or a small amount of crushed protein brownie after the first spin, then use MIX-IN.
